After a review of technical data sheets and other documentation submitted in response to this notice, samples will be purchased for testing. The NAVY is interested in finding a substitute for the encapsulant for the nose of the MK48 ADCAP Torpedo. The acoustic properties of the encapsulant are of extreme importance to this application. Materials with good acoustic properties may at some later date be used in other applications for the Navy. Polyurethane manufacturers and others who may have materials that may fulfill this need should request a copy of the list of characteristics the replacement material must have.
