The Government is seeking technical information and sources which may or may not lead to procurement of engineered wood materials for Navy waterfront infrastructure. Materials of interest include wood/plastic composites formed by wood particles/chips embedded in a resin matrix, with more than 50% of wood by weight. Only materials with sufficient experimental characterization will be considered, including at least knowledge of the density, tensile, compressive and shear strengths (parallel and perpendicular to the grain, if applicable), modulus of elasticity, and modulus of rupture. Interested parties must provide sufficient technical literature for in-house evaluation of the material capabilities. Closing date is 30 May 1998.
