Bethesda, Maryland 20892-6402 A -- GENOMIC SEQUENCING OF STREPTOCOCCUS GORDONII SOL RFP
NIH-NIDR-4-98-1 DUE 061598 POC Marion L. Blevins, 301 594-0652 The
National Institute of Dental Research, NIH, intends to negotiate on a
sole-source basis with The Institute for Genomic Research (TIGR) for
the sequencing of the entire genome of Streptococcus gordonii. The
strain of S. gordonii to be sequenced participates in lactose-sensitive
co-aggregations with Actinomyces naeslundii and is transformable. The
objectives of the project are to complete shotgun sequencing of the
genome of this strain already begun during a previous project at TIGR,
to close the sequence, check the accuracy of the data, release the
data on an Internet Home Page, and to make the DNA fragment clones
available to the research community. TIGR is uniquely qualified to
complete this project within two years and has already completed
library construction and sequencing of approximately one half of the
genome. The authority is 41 USC 253(c)(1), as set forth in FAR 6.302-1.
