primarily of 304,600 cubic yards of hydraulic and 60,800 cubic yards of
mechanical dredging in Hyannis Harbor, with local disposal both on and
offshore. Hydraulic dredging work involves the excavation of a
Confined Aquatic Disposal Cell (CAD Cell) in Hyannis Harbor near the
new outer channel, and maintenance dredging of specific reaches of the
Federal Channel. Material hydraulically excavated from the CAD Cell
shall be disposed of on shore at Dunbar Point. Material hydraulically
excavated from the Federal Channel shall be disposed of as a cap for
the CAD Cell, on Veterans Memorial Beach, and on the Lewis Bay Beaches
at Hyannis Park in West Yarmouth. Shaping and grading of the excavated
material is required only at Dunbar Point. Material deposited on the
beaches will be shaped and graded by others. Mechanical dredging work
involves the excavation of parts of the inner harbor, one reach of the
Federal Channel, and the municipal channel and berths. Disposal of all
mechanically excavated material shall be in the CAD Cell previously
excavated by hydraulic methods. Additional work involves the overland
hauling and placing of 22,000 cubic yards of previously deposited
dredged material from Dunbar Point to Hyannis South Beach (shaping and
grading of this dumped material will be performed by others), and the
stabilization of dredged material placed at Dunbar Point through the
planting of about 0.7 acres of American Beach grass. In all dredging
areas, boulders and miscellaneous debris shall be removed as necessary
to achieve project depth and width as shown on the contract drawings.
The estimatd cost range is between $1,000,000.00 and $5,000,000.00.
Work shall be completed within 75 calendar days after receipt of a
Notice to Proceed. Plans and Specifications will be available on or
about 05/27/98 at a cost of $22.00 per set. All responsible sources may
submit a bid which will be considered by the New England District.
