20740-6001 99 -- MEASUREMENTS OF POLLUTANT GASES POC Patrick Alexander, (301)
713-6470x231 The National Archives and Records Administration seeks
sources to measure the levels of pollutant gases in building air
handlers to monitor the performance of filtering media. Ozone, sulfur
dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, acetic acid, and formaldehyde levels will be
measured upstream and downstream from the filters. The preferred
methodology will use an off-the-shelf, passive system that will be
inserted in the 20,000 cfm air stream; however sampling ports are
available. The monitoring period will be a minimum of 24 hours and a
maximum of 1 week. Previous measurements found pollutant levels
typically in the range 1 to 100 ppb. The lower detection limit for each
gas must not be more that 1 ppb. Ozone, sulfur dioxide, and nitrogen
dioxide will be measured at temperatures ranging from 20 to 100F and
humidities ranging from 10 to 95% RH. Acetic acid and formaldehyde will
be measured at temperatures ranging from 40 to 70F and humidities
ranging from 20 to 50%RH. Measurement will be made quarterly. Each year
25-30 measurements will be made of ozone, sulfur dioxide, and nitrogen
dioxide. Approximately 240 measurements of acetic acide and
formaldehyde will be made each year. Additional tests may be necessary
if filter performance is unsatisfactory. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR
PROPOSAL. NO SOLICITATION PACKAGE WILL BE ISSUED. The Government WILL
NOT respond to any request for a solicitation package in response to
this request for information. this announcement is for the sole purpose
of identifying potential sources and does not commit the Government to
make an award. Please forward all commercial descriptive literature
