(805) 982-2119 This is a market survey for written information only.
This is not a solicitation announcement for proposals and no contract
will be awarded from this announcement. No reimbursement will be made
for any costs associated with providing information in response to this
announcement and any follow-up information requests. No telephone calls
will be accepted requesting a bid package or solicitation. There is no

procurement integrity of any future procurement, if any, that may arise
from this market survey, information regarding the technical point of
contact will not be given and no appointments for presentations will be
made. The Naval Facilities Engineering Service Center (NFESC) has been
tasked to investigate potential methods for the long-term
removal/treatment of algae in wastewater storage ponds located in a
desert area of southern California. At the facility, two pondswith a
combined surface area of 47.3 acres and a total volume of 236.5
acre-feet will require algae control. Current flow through the ponds is
1.25 million gallons per day average with a peak flow of 2.0 million
gallons per day. Water from these ponds is currently being recycled for
irrigation. Excessive algae growth in the ponds has caused a failure of
the irrigation water treatment facility. Any method whether biological,
chemical or physical in nature, which removes algae from the ponds or
treats the water such that algae growth is minimized will be
considered. Respondents should provide the following information about
their algae removal/treatment process: name/address of company,
company point-of contact with phone/fax number (email address if
available), narrative description of process, a process flow diagram,
treatment capacity in pounds of algae per day and previous experience
with algae removal/treatment. In the process narrative, NFESC is
particularly interested any information relating to technological
improvements which will lower operation and maintenance costs. It is
requested that all proprietary information that is not to be
disseminated in government documents be clearly identified. All
information must be mailed to: Department of the Navy, CBC Code 27165
Bldg 41, 1000 23rd Avenue, Port Hueneme, CA 93043-4301. Deadline for
