robert.latin@afosr.af.mil. Due 20 August 1998. The Air Force Office of
Scientific Research (AFOSR) announces the availability of a BAA for
the 1999 Defense University Research Instrumentation Program (DURIP) on
behalf of the Department of Defense (DOD). This program will be
administered through the Army Research Office, the Office of Naval
Research, the Air Force Office of Scientific Research, and the
Ballistic Missile Defense Organization. DURIP is designed to improve
the capabilities of U.S. universities to conduct research and to
educate scientists and engineers in areas important to national defense
by providing funds for the acquisition of research equipment. This
competition is open only to U.S. institutions of higher education,
other than federal government, with degree granting programs in
science, math, and/or engineering. The 1999 solicitation is open to
proposals for equipment acquisitions that will support research and
research-related education in any of the areas of interest to the four
aforementioned sponsoring agencies. The BAA provides the procedures
for obtaining the individual sponsors' solicitations that contain
program descriptions and areas of interest of each organization. These
descriptions of research interests are generally available from
university offices of sponsored programs, but also through the
addresses available in this BAA. It is highly recommended that
potential proposers contact DOD program managers in the relevant
technical areas to explore possible mutual interests before submitting
proposals. Names and addresses for the agencies' program managers can
be found in the descriptive material for each of the agencies. The BAA
is accessible on the World Wide Web at http://www.afosr.af.mil. Please
select the "Research Opportunities" section. See Note 26. (0121) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0006 19980505\A-0006.SOL)
