Rothe manages and operates for NASA a manufacturing "job shop" which fabricates space hardware and a Precision Calibration Laboratory. In order to manage these two job areas, Rothe intends to purchase the hardware and software for a manufacturing management system referred to hereafter as a Manufacturing Execution System (MES). This notice constitutes a market search for this type of system. The MES will perform the following functions: (a) system security, (b) year 2000 compliance, ( c) job management, (d) work order management, (e) job quoting/estimating, (f) job scheduling, (g) data collection, (h) job tracking, (I) inspection/quality assurance reporting, (m) financial accounting, (n) inventory control, (o) shipping & receiving, and (p) procurement/purchasing management, Part of the purchase will be a service support contract, technical documentation, and training. Rothe is in the process of developing procurement specifications which will be available at a later date.
