Issue Date May 22, 1998 -- Multiple Award Schedule solicitations will become "standing" opportunities for new offers. Effective immediately, this Federal Supply Schedule will no longer have a prescribed beginning and ending date. New offers may be forwarded at any time. The Standing soliciation will not contain a closing date. Contracts awarded will have variable contract periods. The contract performance period begins on the DATE OF AWARD (DOA) and expires five years from that date unless cancelled, terminated, or extended pursuant to any option provisions included in the contract. All contracts under this Multipe Award Schedule solicitation will include an option to extend the term of the contract. The option clause may be exercised more than once, but the total extension of the schedule period shall not exceed five years. The Government will award contracts for identical brand name items to more than one contractor when offers are determined to be fair and reasonable to the Government. Economic price adjustments are allowed after contract award in conjunction with company's commercial practices. The soliciation contains a Special Item Number for the introduction of new products.
