Kenneth Freeman 202-307-1971 It is the intent of the Department of
Justice (DOJ) to negotiate on a sole source basis with EG&G
Astrophysics (EG&G), 4031 Via Oro Avenue, Long Beach, CA 90813 to
provide maintenance on x-ray scanning equipment used by the Department
of Justice. Currently there are seventeen (17) SYS 215 systems and
thirty-six (36) SYS 222 systems. The quantities may vary throughout the
contract life. These machines are located throughout the United States.
No solicitation document exists. Interested parties must respond with
a written statement of capability that convincingly demonstrates that
they possess extensive experience with and knowledge of EG&G equipment.
In addition, respondents must explain how they will obtain access to
parts & equipment and be able to guarantee response times of 8 hours
local and 24 hours non-local. Responses received as a result of this
notice of intent shall be considered solely for the purpose of
determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Responses
will not be considered as either proposals or bids, and cost or pricing
data is not solicited. A determination by the Government not to open
the requirement to competition based upon written responses to this
notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. The
anticipated period of performance under any resultant contract will be
one year from the date of award with four (4) one-year option periods
