66 -- FAST PERFORMANCE LIQUID CHROMATOGRAPHY FPLC SYSTEM SOL 91H2-FG-FPLC-427 DUE 051498 POC Fred Gifford 510-559-6017 fax 510-559-6023 WEB: NA, NA. E-MAIL: giffordf@ars.usda.gov, giffordf@ars.usda.gov. The USDA-ARS in Albany, Ca. has a requirement for a FPLC system which can perform as follows: The system must perform separations based on a variety of sample characteristics molecular weight, net surface charge, hydrophobicity, while retaining biological activity. It should have large open column 0.05-20mls/min flow rate, two pump gradient system, control of up to nine motorized valves (one automatic three position valve must be included) for control of column selection, buffer selection, flow reversal and multi-dimensional chromatography. The entire wetted flow path must be inert to halides. The system must automatically and continuously record for the complete run the flow rate, auto scaled UV signals, actual and programmed conductivity of the eluent, eluent ph, and system pressure, accumulated time of run, all valve positions and changes in position, activity of fraction collector. Valves must be driven electronically, with no external air pressure required. The column equilibration feed-back must be monitored. The controller must allow programs to be time based, volume based & column volume based. The system must be a two pump gradient system, with dynamic mixing. A minimum 100 position fraction collector controllable from the system software must be included. Control of chart recorder, fraction collector, gradient mixer, air sensors, and three pumps from the system software. Equipment must be operational in a cold room at 4C. Post run chromatographic analysis by software. Documentation of runs should be automatic and complete. The data must be in a form for export to a spreadsheet. Column definable pressure limit which stops pump & sets off an alarm. The equipment listed below will meet our requirement but alternate source will certainly be considered. Installation and training must be provided by the vendor at no additional cost. The system quoted should include spare parts likely to be needed in the first 12 months of operation. 01 Mono HR5/5 Column FPLC High Resolution Ion exchange Column SAX 5x50mm 02 Mono S HR5/5 Column 03 FPLC High resolution ion Exchange column SCX 5/50mm 04 Superdex 200 HR 10/30 05 Hitrap HIC Test kit 5x1ml 06 Phenyl Superose HR 5/5 FPLC High resolution hydrophobic interaction column 5/50mm 07 SuperLoop 10ml 08 PH Electrode PH/C-900 09 Hiload Pump P-50 10 Motorized Valve PV-900 11 Cell 912 11 300 MHZ Computer and 17" Monitor "Executive Order 12845 (4/21/93) requires that model(s) supplied by the vendor must meet EPA Energy Star requirements for energy efficiency." & *Year 2000 Compliant* 12 HP Inkjet printer 692C w/cable Requests for proposals will be available after May 20, 1998 & can be obtained by mailing, faxing or e-mailing your request to the attention of Fred Gifford as listed in this notice.
