Provide engineering support, maintenance support and Alignment and Pointing System (APS) support for ARL's evaluation of the auto registration fuze. This evaluation will be conducted to demonstrate that the use of a fuze containing a Global Positioning System (GPS) translator can be used to effectively reduct fire-for-effect errors. The APS will provide surrogate hardware and processing capability on test bed weapons until production fire control hardware being developed can be fielded. The contractor shall provide engineering support to ARL for modifying the ARL automated fire control systems and shall provide maintenance support for the APS and other system components. In addition, the contractor shall document modifications made to the ARL automated fire control system to provide a baseline for the production system when it becomes available. Duration period is for four months. It is the intent of the Government to award a contract on a sole source basis to Allied Signal, Teterboro, New Jersey pursuant to FAR 6.302-1. The proposed contract action is for engineering and maintenance support for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received within fifteen (15) days after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
