NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A SOLE SOURCE CONTRACT TO EARTH CONSERVANCY FOR THE PRESERVATION OF OLD MINE MAPS FOR THE SUSQUEHANNA RIVER WETLANDS DEMONSTRATION PROJECT The Office of Surface Mining intends to award a sole source contract under Simplified Acquisition Procedures to Earth Conservancy, 101 South Main Street, Ashley, PA 18706, a non-profit organization, to: locate and inventory old mine maps from specific collieries and prepare these maps and associated documents for scanning; scan maps, remove noise and convert to autocad; and provide OSM with a copy of specified map documents. The maps that are required under this contract are those which document old abandoned mine workings that contribute drainage to the Susquehanna River Watershed. These maps are necessary for understanding the hydrology of the region and the local sources of acid mine drainage. No other source for obtaining these unique maps and completing this effort is knowing. Any responsible firm that believes it has the capability to provide the services listed above shall submit a listing of available maps and expertise, along with a quotation and company resume. Responses can either be mailed to Jeanine Williamson at the U.S. Office of Surface Mining, Branch of Anthracite, 7 N. Wilkes-Barre Boulevard, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702 or faxed to 717-830-1421 no later than 15 calendar days after the issue date of this announcement. This is a simplified acquisition with an estimated value of less than $50,000.
