POC Contracting Officer, Pam Hayes (520) 629-4611 Firm to provide A/E
services to complete construction documents (drawings and
specifications), estimates, and construction period services for
Project No. 678-307, "Consolidated Intensive Care Unit". This project
will renovate (gut and rebuild) up to 10,000 gsf of space located on
the second floor of Building 38. This space will be vacated in
September 1998 when the Clinical Laboratory now housed there is
relocated into new space. This project will reconfigure this space into
a combined 19 bed surgical and medical intensive care unit consistent
with VA criteria and related codes. This project will also provide a
connecting corridor betwen the second floors of Building 38 and
Building 57. Architectural, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, asbestos
abatement, elevator replacement, and fire protection engineering
services are required to accomplish program planning, design
development, construction drawings, specifications, and cost
estimating. Related medical gases, nurse call, TV master antenna, air
handler, energy management, fire protection, telephone, and computer
cabling systems work will be accomplished as it relates to this space.
Construction period services will be negotiated as part of the A/E
contract, but awarded at time of construction award. The estimated
start and finish dates for design are August 98 and Aprill 99
respectively. Estimated construction cost range is $2,000,000 to
$5,000,000. The proposed construction contract shall be competitive bid
(no restrictions). A/E selection criteria will include (in order or
importance): 1) Recent specialized experience of the firm (including
consultants) in the area of hospital critical care unit design or
related work. 2) Professional qualifications of the staff to be
assigned to this project. List only the team members who will actually
perform major tasks for the project. Qualifications should reflect the
individual's potential contributions to this project. 3) Past
performance on projects with government agencies and private industry
in terms of cost control, quality of work, and compliance with
performance schedules. 4) Capacity to acomplish the work in the
required time. Indicate firms present workload and the availability of
the proejct team (including consultants) for the specified contract
performance period. 5) Location and availability in the general
geographic area and knowlede of the locality of the project. Standard
Industrilization Classification (SIC) is 8712. Those
Architectural/Engineering firms with the requirements described in this
announcement and wish to be considered, must submit one copy each of SF
254 and SF 255 for the firm and an SF 254 for each subconsultant listed
in Block 6 of the firm's SF 255. One copy of the SF 254's/255 must be
received before 4 p.m. on June 15, 1998. Send SF 254's/255 to Pam

accepted. This proposed acquisition is open to small and large
businesses located within one-hundred-fifty (150) miles of the Tucson
