SEMINAR: THE SEMINAR IS TO PROVIDE INFORMATION ON A NEW CONTRACTING STRATEGY FOR TWO PHASE DESIGN BUILD (CONSTRUCTION AND DESIGN SERVICES) AT VARIOUS AREAS. The Southern Division Naval Facilities Engineering Command and the Resident Officer in Charge of Construction at the Naval Air Station (NAS), Jacksonville, Florida, will host a seminar to provide information on a new contracting strategy for two phase design build (construction and design services) at NAS Jacksonville, Naval Station Mayport, Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay and NAS Key West. The seminar will be held on Monday, 08 June 1998 from 1:30pm to 4:00pm at the Bachelor Officer Quarters Conference Center, NAS, Jacksonville, Florida. Agenda topics include Design/Build Contracting, Design/Build Task Order Contracting and "Best Value" Procurement, as well as current projections for future workload. Plans for use of these new contracting methods represent a significant change in the way construction and design services will be contracted for in the future. The new contracting tools provide opportunities for increased partnering with design and construction contractors and customers, streamlined designprocess, rapid resolutioin of design questions during construction, and overall decreased time to deliver the final product. This seminar is intended to provide the contracting community with the introductory information necessary to remain well postured in the changing contracting environment. Construction, Architect/Engineer, and Design/Build firms are highly encouraged to attend this informational seminar.
