Ewing, beth.ewing@msfc.nasa.gov. NASA/MSFC plans to issue a Request for
Quotation (RFQ) for AXAF Display Development. This procurement is being
conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/MSFC
intends to purchase the items from BD Systems Incorporated. Scope: The
AXAF Pointing Controls and Aspect Determination (PCAD) Team will
provide technical support for the on-orbit activation and checkout of
the AXAF observatory. The development of the graphical displays will
facilitate the PCAD Team's ability to assess the peformance of the AXAF
control system and provide the ability to trouble shoot problems in a
timely manner. Tasks: The contractor shall perform the following tasks:
1) Develop a display capability which can utilize the science plan to
display expected aspect camera field of view and provide graphical
representation of aspect camera measurements from either real-time or
playback telemetry; 2) Incorporate the STAR identification and attitude
update algorithm utilizing aspect camera measurements in STAR
fielddisplay; 3) Provide techical support for STAR field display AXAF
integrated simulations and on-orbit verification; 4) Provide
documentation as delineated in the data procurement document. Contract
deliverable: The contractor shall install all software developed under
Tasks 1 and 2. The contractor shall provide two copies of the user's
guide in both hardcopy and electronic formats. The Government does not
intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. See Note 26.

this proposed effort on a full and open competitive basis, based upon
responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the
