The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Office of NOAA Corps Operations has a requirement for medical advice to vessel Commands and remote research and surveillance stations in order to treat any medical conditions and, if deemed appropriate by the Contractor and/or NOAA, to evacuate individuals requiring on-shore medical treatment. The NOAA Fleet is composed of fifteen research and survey vessels centrally managed by the NOAA Office of NOAA Corps Operations, located in Silver Spring, Maryland. The ships operate in estuarine, coastal, and oceanic areas throughout the world. The Contractor shall maintain a medical response center, staffed by physicians and other personnel as described in the solicitation Statement of Work. The Contractor shall operate a suitable communication facility to provide medical advisory services to field stations and to the ships of the NOAA fleet when they are at sea, or in U.S. or foreign ports anytime the ships' Commands decide it is warranted. The communication facility must be of a configuration, capacity, and power which will ensure that medical advice may be sought by the ships and provided by the Contractor on a 24 hour per day basis, seven days per week, anywhere throughout the world. It is anticipated that a solicitation will be issued in early June 1998. The Government is contemplating the award of a fixed price contract consisting of a one-year base period and four (4) one-year option periods.
