HEALTH AS WELL AS VARIOUS OTHER FEDERAL GOVERNMENT LIBRARIES IN THE
WASHINGTON METROPOLITAN AREA WITH THE SUPPORT SERVICES REQUIRED TO

301-480-3345 The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has a requirement
for a contractor to provide various library services to the National
Institutes of Health (NIH), NIH Library (Building 10), as well as other
Federal Government libraries throughout the Washington Metropolitan
Area as required. The contractor's duties for the NIH library include
but are not limited to the following: Collection Maintenance: the
contractor shall provide the following services daily: shelving of
reference and general collection materials in accordance with standard
library practices (a minimum of 2770 volumes per day; 85% of material
within four (4) hours of receipt. 99% must be reshelved within six (6)
hours of receipt during normal work day hours), shelf reading to review
the shelving order of materials and reshelve items and areas as needed
to correct shelf sequence of material, shifting as needed to create
space in specific areas, prepare and insert labels at range ends, and
charge, reserve and discharge material as needed. Document Delivery and
Photocopying: Photocopy journal articles (make a minimum of 12,700
copies per day to fill a minimum of 1300 request; all copies are to be
completed, inspected and ready to mail within 4 to 6 hours of receipt
for photocopying). The contractor shall also be responsible for
retrieving interlibrary loan and document delivery request from the
stacks (a minimum of 1700 requests are processed daily) and the pick up
and delivery of mail to and from library offices. Self-Service
Photocopy: Manage and operate a self-service photocopy facility for NIH
Library cardholders. The facility hours of operation are: 8:00 a.m. to
8:15 p.m., Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday,
10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, Sunday, and some holidays 1:00
p.m. to 5:00 p.m. There are a minimum of 360 users per day. In addition
to the above, on an as needed basis, the contractor shall provide
library services to other Federal Government agencies throughout the
Washington Metropolitan area. Duties will include but are not limited
to the following: provide libraries with the appropriate technical
commercial services required to maintain the collection and
corresponding records, and to provide related services such as:
providing librarians/searchers to perform the following duties; provide
in-depth reference services using a variety of sources including the
library's collection, commercial databases, and the World Wide Web;
Perform literature searches, serves as a World Wide Web resource by
keeping up to date on useful web sites and search engines, to provide
training in the use of internet web browsers; searching databases such
as PubMed and ProQuest Direct, on the World Wide Web, and Provide
assistance and training to library patrons in using the library's
various CD-Rom resources, such as Stat-REF, Phone Disc, and Books in
Print. The contractor shall have the ability to provide complete
collection control of library materials and records, providing services
such as circulation, shelving, and journal routing. The period of
performance for this proposed contract will be for one twelve (12)
month period, with options to renew for four (4) additional twelve (12)
month periods. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which
