Specialist, (404) 842-6757 The Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC) contemplates award of a two year contract (including
options) to develop a protocol that (1) assesses the analytical
performance (accuracy) of test systems utilizing alternative quality
control procedures and compare that performance to systems using
traditional procedures to determine whether the alternative systems
increase, decrease, or maintain the level of quality assurance provided
by traditional methods; (2) to critically evaluate negative impacts on
medical decision-making directly related to systems using alternative
quality control and assess whether these negative impacts represent
deviations from accepted limits of medical error; (3) to assess the
ability of alternative quality control systems to alert the analyst to
lapses in performance that occur during patient testing and to develop
a prototype for monitoring future performance of test systems utilizing
alternative quality control systems. Written requests for copies of the
solicitation will be honored if received within 15 days of the RFP
issue date. Requests received after that date will be filled on a
first-come-first-served basis until the supply is exhausted. The date
specified for receipt of offers will be approximately 30 days after the
RFP issue date which will be approximately May 15, 1998. Requests for
copies of the RFP must cite the number. Telephone requests will not be
accepted. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which will be
