The Federal Emergency Management Agency is seeking prospective bidders for the following project: EMV-1998-IB-0038 is for Building 712 -- Painting and Carpet Installation at the Federal Emergency Management Agency, Mount Weather Emergency Assistance Center, 19844 Blue Ridge Mountain Road (State Route 601), Bluemont, Virginia 20135, Clarke County. Building 712 is a two-story rectangular structure measuring 28 feet wide by 195 feet long. Building 712 houses the Virginia National Processing Service Center (VNPSC). Contract work shall include removal of furniture and equipment and storage of such, demolition, asbestos abatement, painting, carpet and quarter round board installation, and placement of furniture and equipment back in offices. Contractor shall schedule work so as to cause the least amount of interference with building operations. The building shall remain fully operational during the entire construction period. Basic Contract Work includes work on the second floor. Second floor work includes 12 offices, hallway and two stairwells. Basic Contract Work includes the following line items: 001 removal of furniture and equipment from second floor; 002 carpet demotion work on second floor; 003 removal of vinyl-asbestos floor tiles; 004 painting work; 005 carpet installation; and 006 quarter round board installation. Option 1 Work includes the first floor. First floor includes 20 offices, hallway and foyers. Option 1 Work include the following line items: 007 removal of furniture and equipment; 008 carpet demolition; 009 removal of vinyl-asbestos floor tiles; 010 painting work; 011 carpet installation and 012 quarter round board installation. The low bid will be determined by the grand total of the Basic Contract Work and Option1 Work. Prospective Contractors are required to possess a Virginia Contractor's License in order to bid on and perform the work. The period of performance is 120 calendar days from issuance of the Notice to Proceed. Estimated construction price range is between $100,000 and $250,000. EMV-1998-IB-0038 will be issued O/A June 15, 1998, with a receipt date of bids 30 days after issuance of Invitation for Bid. Pre-Bid conference and site visit will be scheduled with specific date and time to be provided in the Invitation for Bids. EMV-1998-IB-0038 will be available upon receipt of a written request submitted to: FEMA, Mt. Weather Emergency Assistance Center, Attn: Mar a L. Martin, Bldg. 413, 19844 Blue Ridge Mountain Road, Bluemont, VA 20135, to include a $25.00 deposit (non-refundable) for each set of plans and specifications with checks to be made payable to the US Treasurer.
