65 -- HUMAN BLOOD, BLOOD PRODUCTS, TESTING, AND DELIVERY SOL 502-21-98 DUE 061298 POC Bernice Griffin, Contract Specialist(318)473-0010X2240 or Carol Robertson, Chief, Acquisition Management(318)473-0010X2234 VAMC Alexandria LA intends to negotiate a sole source procurement with LifeShare Blood Center, 1455 Wilkinson St, Shreveport LA,with an established branch site in Alexandria LA, to meet blood and related services/products for the Dept of Veterans Affairs Medical Centers in Alexandria and Shreveport. This includes red blood cells, fresh frozen plasma, pooled platelet concentrate & related products, and testing as necessary to meet blood/blood product needs in a safe and prompt manner. TIMELY DELIVERY IS CRITICAL. Pickup of sample(s) for testing may be required within one (1) hour of notification with two (2) hour delivery of suitable blood for transfusion. Delivery must be within the premises of Laboratory Service at both medical centers. Combined inpatient capacity at both VA's is approximately 750. Estimated quantity for packed red blood cells for the contract period is 2700. Blood must be 100% VOLUNTEER DONOR BLOOD from a blood bank meeting, as a minimum, all national and state requirements including registration & licensure from FDA, Dept of Health & Human Services, American Assn of Blood Banks, LA Hospital Assn, College of American Pathologists, and other associations and accreditations to ensure safe blood products and related procedures and supplies. Contract period is 7/1/98 through 6/30/99. There is no other known source for the quantities and/or capable of meeting the delivery schedule required. Solicitation 502-21-98 will be issued and is available 5/12/98 without setaside restriction. All responsible sources meeting all requirements may submit an offer which will be considered in accordance with numbered Notes 22 and 23.
