The United States Department of Defense is seeking sources for existing devices that may be used to detect, identify, and quantify chemical and biological (CB) agents in water supplies during water point selection, production, storage, and distribution to consumers (including shower points and personnel decontamination stations). Devices will be used in support of three water monitoring missions: 1) source water selection for potable water supplies, shower points, and personnel and equipment decontamination stations; 2) treated water quality assurance at water purification points, shower points, and personnel decontamination stations; and, 3) potable water storage and distribution point quality assurance to detect recontamination of field potable water supplies. These missions can occur during both peacetime and wartime operations. This market survey announcement is to identify existing technologies. Equipment should have high sensitivity (ppm/ppb/ppt levels), low false alarm rate, be able to detect one or more of the following: organophosphate based pesticides, sulpher and arsenic based compounds, bacterial cells and/or spores, toxins, and virus. Additional features under consideration are cost per unit, size, weight, power requirements, if disposable supplies are required, shelf life, how long a sensor system will be functional before needing replacement/calibration. There is no commitment on the part of the Government to award a contract as a result of this request for information nor to pay for the information received.
