Ms. Josephine Barker (Contracting Officer) E-MAIL: Click here to email
the Contracting Officer, jfbarker@cbdcom.apgea.army.mil. The United
States Department of Defense is seeking sources for existing devices
that may be used to detect, identify, and quantify chemical and
biological (CB) agents in water supplies during water point selection,
production, storage, and distribution to consumers (including shower
points and personnel decontamination stations). Devices will be used in
support of three water monitoring missions: 1) source water selection
for potable water supplies, shower points, and personnel and equipment
decontamination stations; 2) treated water quality assurance at water
purification points, shower points, and personnel decontamination
stations; and, 3) potable water storage and distribution point quality
assurance to detect recontamination of field potable water supplies.
These missions can occur during both peacetime and wartime operations.
This market survey announcement is to identify existing technologies.
Equipment should have high sensitivity (ppm/ppb/ppt levels), low false
alarm rate, be able to detect one or more of the following:
organophosphate based pesticides, sulpher and arsenic based compounds,
bacterial cells and/or spores, toxins, and virus. Additional features
under consideration are cost per unit, size, weight, power
requirements, if disposable supplies are required, shelf life, how long
a sensor system will be functional before needing
replacement/calibration. There is no commitment on the part of the
Government to award a contract as a result of this request for
information nor to pay for the information received. Interested sources
should submit written notification to Director, AMC Acquisition Center,
U.S. Army Chemical and Biological Defense Command Contracting Branch,
ATTN: STEAA-CD-CR/J. Barker, E5183 Blackhawk Road, Aberdeen Proving
Ground, MD 21010-5423. For Federal Express submittals, add Building
E-4455. Written information should include the following: Company name,
address, web page, point of contact, phone No., fax No., e-mail
address, type of technology proposed, what is the technical basis for
detection? Level of maturity, is it a concept, lab prototype, or
commercially available? List product capabilities and testing that has
been accomplished -- analytes and or interferents, sensitivity,
selectivity, and false alarm rates. What types of water tested and used
(looking for how system handles background). Response time and define
your parameters. In-line monitor or batch; size and weight of system;
end item cost. Are there any consumables? If yes, identify. What is the
shelf life? Available product literature and published price list.
Request responses not later than 1 July 1998. After review of the
product information submitted, the Government may request samples for
testing. (0133) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0401 19980515\99-0005.SOL)
