afrederick@darpa.mil) The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency
(DARPA) intends to modify Contract MDA972-96-K-0002 with Boston
University, Boston, MA, for the purpose of continuing research and
development (R&D) relative to arming red blood cells in support of
DARPA's BWD/PC Program; specifically, the development of protective
enzymes for red blood cells. This institution is the only source known
to the Government that possesses the requisite capabilities,
facilities and experiences, and that can accomplish this R&D within the
Government's cost and schedule constraints. The estimated value of this
effort is under $1 million; the estimated duration is approximately
