The National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) requires an expansion of its existing SafeWord AS user licenses from 1,000 to 2,000 users and additional software maintenance to cover the increased licenses; additional authentication cards (hardware and software); and a programming device for the authentication cards for the NIST-wide internet firewall. In addition NIST requires three, one year option periods for software maintenance to cover all 2,000 user licenses. Because of the proprietary nature of the requirements listed above, NIST intends to purchase these products and services from Secure Computing Corporation of Vienna, VA on a sole source basis. These products and services consist of the following Contract Line Items (CLIN): CLIN 0001 is ONE EA -- Part # SA44-USERLIC-1000 Safeword AS V4.4, User License Upgrade, 1000 pack. CLIN 0009 is ONE YEAR -- Annual Support Maintenance and Upgrade service of all 2,000 user licenses for OPTION YEAR 1 -- (October 1, 1998 through September 30, 1999). This is a combined synopsis/solicitation in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; a quotation is being requested from Secure Computing Corporation and a written solicitation will not be issued. This solicitation number 53SBNB860058 is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ). Delivery shall be FOB Destination to NIST in Gaithersburg, Maryland, within 60 days after receipt of order. This action is being issued using simplified acquisition procedures under the authority of the test program cited in FAR subpart 13.5. The applicable Standard Industrial Classification Code is 7371, with a size standard of $18 million.
