Bird Island Basin boat channel is approximately 3400 feet long and varies from 100 feet to 150 feet wide. Collection of existing data such as aerial photographs, recent surveys,natutical charts, etc. Field work to describe existing conditions which will consist of placing transects for surveying, measuring for sediment depth,sampling surface soil type,taking core samples, and sounding channel to identify high spots. Prepare report of findings. If dredging of channel is needed, there would be a requirement for a disposal site evaluation, a mitigation plan, and an environmental assessment report.
