Kruskie, Contracting Officer, Construction Contracting Section, at (202) 307-0954 This Pre-Solicitation Notice is to announce that the Federal Bureau of Prisons intends to award a Firm Fixed Price contract to construct a new United States Penitentiary and a Federal Prison Camp near Atwater, California. The Invitation for Bid (IFB) Number is X00-336. The successful bidder will be required to furnish all labor, materials, and equipment to complete a High Security United States Penitentiary and a Minimum Security Federal Prison Camp. The construction includes, but is not limited to utilities, sitework, and building construction for approximately 57,000 square meters (614,000 square feet) of one and two level buildings in a "compound plan" and "campus plan" arrangement. This project is designed using the metric system of measurement. The estimated price range for this project is more than $10,000,000.00. All related work for the construction contract must be completed within 730 calendar days after issuance of a formal notice to proceed. Documents will be available on or about June 15, 1998. All requests for documents must be in writing and accompanied by a non-refundable fee of $900.00. Make checks payable to Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum, Inc. Documents will be shipped via second day delivery. If overnight service is required, please provide overnight carrier account number. Documents shall not be returned to Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum, Inc. Telephone inquiries regarding the nature of the project will not be accepted. A site visit and pre-bid conference will take place on or about July 8, 1998 near the project site.
