Peace Corps, Office of Contracts, Rm. 6368, 1990 K St. N.W., Washington, DC 20526

23 -- MOTOR VEHICLES FOR US PEACE CORPS BANGLADESH POST** SOL 98-6 DUE 052198 POC Christine Sihag, Contracting Officer (202) 606-3648; fax (202) 606-3009 E-MAIL: Peace Corps Contracing Officer, csihag@peacecorps.gov. This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The US Peace Corps, in order to carry out its mission in support of Peace Corps Volunteers overseas at remote foreign Posts, has a continuing need to replace vehicles which are unserviceable or uneconomical to maintain or operate at Post. For certain overseas Posts, the Peace Corps has, in the past, purchased foreign-made vehicles since this type of procurement allows the Peace Corps Posts to cannibalize and exhcnage parts for vehicles currently on hand, thus alleviating disruption to vital Post functions; and Post requires right hand drive vehicles. These requirements serve to minimize Posts's maintenance procedures and timeframes for maintenance, and makes for Post's continued efficient maintenance, training and operation of vehicles. The Peace Corps has a requirement, for its Bangladesh Post, for three (3) vehicles: two (2) Mitsubishi Pajeros, or completely equivalent vehicles; and one (1) Mitsubishi Lancer, or completely equivalent vehicle. All three vehicles must be assembled and available for delivery to the US Peace Corps' Bangladesh Post within thirty (30) days after the close of this notice of 5/21/98. Award will be made to the offeror whose proposal represents the most advantageous product to the Government; whose technical proposal meets all of the requirements of this notice including technical features such as warranty provisions; who is considered to be responsible within the meaning of FAR 9.104; and who offers the lowest aggregate price.
