lewisp@hanscom.af.mil. The MILSATCOM Terminal Program Office (ESC/MC)
at the Electronic Systems Center, Hanscom AFB, MA is seeking
information to determine the availability of a state of the art Battery
Charger/Analyzer/Conditioner for use in charging nickel cadmium (Ni-Cd)
and lead acid battery packs used in fixed ground, ground transportable
and aircraft Milstar terminals. There are three types of NI-Cd battery
packs to be charged: a battery pack containing twelve AA Ni-Cd cells;
a battery pack containing 1/2 AAA Ni-Cd cells; and, a battery pack
containing three D cells. The lead acid battery pack consists of eight
sealed lead-acid cells. The battery charger must possess an automatic
chemistry recognition featue; must be able to simultaneously charge
multiple battery types (chemistries, voltages and ampere-hour
capabilities); and be able to operate over a full range of both AC (70
to 260 Vac, 47 to 63 Hz and DC (12 to 36 Vdc) input voltages. A second
application for that battery charger is to supply a constant current of
20 milliamperes at 18 Vdc without interruption for a period of 11 days.
Interested companies must contact the POC within ten (10) working days
of publication of this announcement to declare their interest in
participating in this market survey and to request a copy of the
Battery Charger Requirements Specification Document. The purpose of the
market survey is to identify potential sources of supply in conjunction
with the Department of defense (DOD) Productivity Reliability
Availability Maintainability (PRAM) program. Within twenty (20) working
days of receiving the Battery Charger Requirements Specification
document, companies must submit a brief technical description of their
battery charger (not to exceed five pages), the extent to which their
battery charger has undergone development and production, along with
a brief description of their related manufacturing and development
experience (not to exceed two pages), to the POC. Responses must also
include company name, address, point of contact, telephone number and
facsimile telephone number. This market survey may not lead to a future
competitive procurement. It should not be construed as a Request For
Proposal (RFP), an Invitation For Bid (IFB) nor as a commitment by the
Government to issue an order or otherwise pay for the information
solicited. The Government reserves the right to reject, in whole or in
part, any response to this market survey. Responses should be
addressed to ESC/MCK, ATTN: Peter Lewis, 50 Griffiss Street, Hanscom
