Grahovac, pg2@inel.gov. ADVANCED VIDEO SYSTEM FOR REMOTE CONTROL
OPERATIONS. Contact Mr. Paul Grahovac or Mr. Bill Inman. Potential
technology development and licensing opportunity with Lockheed Martin
Idaho Technologies Company (LMITCO), the prime contractor for the
Department of Energy at the Idaho National Engineering and
Environmental Laboratory (INEEL). LMITCO has developed a new technology
for use in complex video observation applications such as: medical
procedures, deep-sea operations, manufacturing, movie and television
production studios, hazardous material and unexploded ordinance
handling, and military, space, and nuclear operations. Additional
possible applications include security surveillance operations.
Possible computer applications include Internet use, virtual
enterprises, and distributed workforce environments. The system has
been developed, tested and utilized in dismantling a nuclear reactor.
It allows the technicians to observe and manipulate the remote
environment without using their hands to operate the video cameras
present there. This frees them to operate the manual controls for the
remote operations equipment. The system eliminates the extensive
manpower, training, and experience requirements for operating the
difficult conventional video equipment controls. The system also (1)
provides the critically needed depth perception lacking in conventional
video technology and (2) gives operators the important ability to
adjust their point of view to observe areas that are outside the direct
viewing area as if standing to the side of a window and looking through
it diagonally. LMITCO has filed a patent application on this system and
is soliciting a written indication of interest from industry partners
who would consider funding collaborative technology development and or
entering into a license agreement for the purpose of developing and
commercializing this technology. License terms will include an up-front
licensing fee and a running royalty based on a percentage of sales.
This is not an opportunity to provide goods or services to LMITCO or
the Department of Energy. This Request for Interest will close to
response 30 days after publication. Interested parties should send a
description of their company and their ability to commercialize this
technology to the address below. For Oil & Gas applications, contact
Paul Grahovac, Account Executive, Technology Transfer Office, LMITCO,
