Environmental Protection Agency under the Simplified Acquisition
Procedures of FAR Part 13, intends to issue a sole source purchase
order to Sciences International, Alexandria, VA. The EPA is FACNET
certified. The contractor will be required to provide technical support
for the determination of the potential effects of pesticides indirectly
applied to food, on human health and on the environment, through the
review and evaluation of chemistry and toxicology data contained in
pesticide tolerance petitions. To provide the required services, the
contractor must be cleared for access to the Federal Insecticide,
Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act Confidential Business Information. The
contractor will be required to review and critically examine scientific
data and information packages submitted as parts of petitions for
pesticides indirectly added to food. The petition data packages
reviewed will include data and analysis in one or more of the following
scientific areas: 1. Chemistry -- Identify and characterization;
specifications; manufacturing process including by products or
impurities; amount of the pesticide needed for the intended technical
effect; results of migration studies; and dietary exposure estimates.
2. Toxicology -- acute feeding studies; short term feeding studies
including subchronic (90 day) studies; genetic toxicity studies,
chronic feeding studies, and others. NO SOLICITATION IS AVAILABLE. All
