This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared
in accordance with the format in FAR subpart 12.6, as supplemented with
additional information included in this notice. This announcement
constitutes the only solicitation; quotations are being requested, and
a written solicitation document will not be issued. This solicitation,
#PR-DC-98-02444, is a request for quotation (RFQ). The solicitation
document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect
through Federal Acquisition Circular 97-04. The associated standard
industrial classification code (SIC) for this procurement is 5063, and
the small business size is 100 employees. The Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) has a requirement for 600,000 feet of plenum rated
category 5 communications cable for use in the EPA New Headquarters
Development Project. To comply with warranty conditions in existing
connectivity hardware, only the following manufacturers' cable will be
considered acceptable for this solicitation: Belden, Berk-Tec,
CommScope, Mohawk, and Prescolite. Required delivery date is July 1,
1998. Place of delivery and acceptance and FOB point is 401 M Street,
SW, Washington, DC 20460. FAR 52.212-1, Instructions to
Offerors-Commercial applies to this acquisition. Proposals will be
evaluated and award made to the responsible, responsive firm whose
offer conforming to this solicitation is the lowest cost and
technically acceptable offer. All vendors are to include with their
quotes a completed copy of provision 52.212-3, Offeror Representations
and Certifications- Commercial Items, which may be downloaded from
http://www.arnet.gov/far/. The clause at 52.212-4, Contract Terms and
Conditions-commercial Items, applies to this acquisition. The clause at
