The National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), Center for Disease Control (CDC) through the General Acquisitions Branch, PSC plans to award a sole source commercial item acquisition utilizing simplified acquistion procedures to Hologic, Inc. in Waltham, MA. The purpose of the acquisition is to purchase two QDR 4500A Fan Beam X-Ray Densitometers to measure body composition and bone density for the Fourth National Health Nutritition and Examination Survey (NHANES IV). This data will provide estimates on the prevalence of obesity and osteoporosis in the Nations population. This equipment must be exactly like the equipment now in use to meet the survey requirement of statistically compatible data. Closing date is June 5, 1998. No solicitation package is available.
