301/227-5774 The Carderock Division, Naval Surface Warfare Center has
a requirement for developing advanced auxiliary systems architectures,
equipment and equipment modules, habitability modules, and combat
system integrated modules for incorporation into the future surface
ship fleet. The NSWCCD has a requirement for an additional 115,750
labor hours under existing contract number N61533-94-D-0057 with Gibbs
& Cox, Inc. at 50 West 23rd Street, New York, NY 10010 for the
continuation of highly specialized scientific and technical support
services directed toward the development of ship affordability
initiatives through producibility, modularity and process
simplification concepts. The subject contract is an indefinite
delivery/indefinite quanitity, cost-plus-fixed-fee (completion) type
contracting arrangement that provides for the application of
milti-disciplinary skills, experience, and expertise directed toward
research, development, and test and evaluation (T&E) of ship
producibility, modularity and process simplification concepts for
current and future fleet applications. The tasking efforts covered
under the contract involve areas which include ship system design, ship
construction practice, ship constructing costing, ship producibility
initiatives, machinery modularity design and construction, combat
system modularity design and construction, hull and habitability
modularity design and construction, with demonstrated application of
the principles of Affordability Through Commonality practices.
Analytical studies conducted for this effort generally require in-depth
knowledge of surface ship auxiliary systems, habitability
considerations, combat systems as related to current Navy modular
packaging techniques, and advanced system analysis projects. Studies
performed under this contract will primarily center around the DDG 51
