A -- BIOLOGICAL WARFARE DEFENSE (BWD) -- PATHOGEN COUNTERMEASURES (PC) SOL Sole Source 98-13 POC Alan Frederick, PCO, DARPA/CMD (E-mail: afrederick@darpa.mil) DARPA intends to modify its existing R&D contract with the University of Virginia (MDA972-96-K-0001) in order to provide for a final portion of R&D in support of DARPA's BWD program; specifically, the application of heteropolymer binding technology to localize and destroy specifically targeted virulent bacteria and their toxic products. The value of this final portion of R&D is estimated at $520,000; the estimated extension of the Contract's existing period of performance is eight months. The University of Virginia remains the only source known to the Government with the experience, personnel and facilities for accomplishing this R&D within the Government's cost and schedule constraints.
