Wright, Contract Specialist, (202) 708-8572 The U.S. Department of Education, Surveys and Cooperative Systems Group of the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), proposes to solicit a twelve (12) month contract with four (4) optional years to improve the quality, comparability and accessibility of data reported by state and local education agencies. This work will encourage state and local agencies to adopt the standards and use the technical assistance available from NCES. It will identify emerging needs and potential uses for the data these agencies collect. Widespread use of the data standards, products an services will in turn further goals for a national data system developed jointly by the Department of Education and the states under the National Cooperative Education statistics System. RFP ED-98-R-0012 will be issued on or about June 2, 1998. The closing date is July 2, 1998. Telephone request should be placed by calling (202) 708-6498. The Request for Proposals can also be found on the Internet on or about the RFP issue date at: http://gcs.ed.gov or gopher://gcs.ed.gov. Written requests should be sent to the address given above. Copies may be picked up after the date of release. Because of tightened security, offerors cannot enter our building on their own. To pick up a copy of the RFP or to drop off a proposals, offerors shall go to the D Street exit and have the guard call (202) 708-8191 and ask to sign the offeror in, in order to deliver the proposals.
