13 -- SYSTEMS INTEGRATION FOR VIRTUAL FACTORY CONCEPT DUE 062298 POC Davis Burns, (973)724-6033 WEB: US ARMY TACOM-ARDEC Procurement Network, http://procnet.pica.army.mil/procacts.htm. E-MAIL: Davis Burns, dburns@pica.army.mil. The U.S. Army TACOM-ARDEC, Close Combat Armament Center, is seeking firms that are interested in participating in systems integration for development of a virtual factory environment. It is envisioned that a network of metal parts manufacturers will provide the manufacturing operations necessary to supply metal parts for final assembly, loading, packing, and shipping. This is an initial study to determine if a virtual factory concept is workable both from a technical and membership level. If this concept is proven to be successful, it will be expanded to include manufacture of larger calibers of ammunition and spare parts for weapons. A systems integration effort will be required to coordinate qualification of vendors, contracting, order placement, delivery schedules, inventory control, and parts inspection. This effort will also explore the requirements necessary to establish a cooperative effort, among manufacturers, in order to supply these metal parts. The following annual production quantities areestimated based on recent historical data. These are provided to allow interested firms to determine the scale of effort required for this project: a. Small Caliber (5.56mm to 0.5 cal) 200.0 million rounds b. Cannon Caliber (20mm to 40mm) 6.2 million rounds c. Large Caliber (105mm to 155mm) .8 million rounds Interested parties should submit information describing their system integration capabilities and experience. Submissions should include information on providing networking solutions, electronic contracting, and conducting business on the Web. This notice is a Market Survey and should not be construed as a commitment by the Government. Respondents should submit their data within 30 days from the date of this publication to U.S. Army TACOM-ARDEC, ATTN: AMSTA-AR- CCL-D, Richard Jolliffe or David Burns, Bldg. 65N, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000, or via email to jolliffe@pica.army.mil (973) 724-4512 or dburns@pica.army.mil (973) 724-6033. Faxes may be sent to (973) 724-6959/3 793. (0141)
