announcement to award a sole source contract to Aerospace & Undersea
Support Services of Warren, MA for four (4) SOS LTD hyperlite 1-man
folding portable hyperbaric chambers (Model 585 / 3.1 / 3) with options
for up to four (4) additional chambers. The U. S. Coast Guard has a
requirement to provide diving accident emergency medical treatment for
U.S. Coast Guard dive teams operating in remote locations. The EEHS
will be used to initiate hyperbaric treatment and to transport diving
accident victims to medical facilities. The EEHS shall be a Commercial
Item as defined by FAR Part 2.101. The EEHS shall have met national
safety standards for pressure vessels for human occupancy (ASTM PVHO-1
with exceptions allowed by Case 6 effective Sept 11, 1993). The EEHS
shall have a minimum rated operating pressure of 30 psig. The EEHS
shall be sized so that it is transportable in the Coast Guard standard
HH-65 helicopter while pressurized. The EEHS shall be easily stored
and would ideally be collapsible for storage in compact storage
container(s). The EEHS shall be designed for manual transport and shall
weigh less than 200 lbs. (without patient). Observation of and verbal
communication with the patient shall be possible while the EEHS is
pressurized. Oxygen shall be administered to the patient via a built in
breathing system while the EEHS is pressurized. The EEHS must be
capable of transferring the patient to a larger hyperbaric chamber
while pressurized, without additional equipment. The minimum internal
dimensions of the EEHS shall be 80 inches in length and 22 inches in
diameter. Companies supplying an EEHS which meets the above
requirements (same or different make and model), have 15 days from the
publication of this synopsis to respond. Written responses are
required and must be mailed to the above address. Responses must
include enough information to demonstrate the ability to meet the
