NOTE: THIS IS A MODIFICATION TO THE SYNOPSIS DATED 09/04/97. Construct
two bridges and two box culvert structures along State Road 9336 in the
Everglades National Park. A section of the Old Ingraham Highway
downstream of these structures will also be degraded. Construction will
include detour requirements (including electric and telephone utilities
and pre-engineered detour bridge); a 250-foot by 36-foot cast-in-place
concrete bridge (25-foot spacing between bents) founded on 3-foot
diameter drilled shafts; a 375-foot by 36-foot cast in place concrete
bridge (25-foot spacing between bents) founded on 3-foot diameter
drilled shafts; 4- x 8-foot precast concrete box culverts; and,
demolition of a 102-foot concrete bridge (38-foot spacing between
bents). There will be 1,050 feet of minor road repairs which involves
patching and filling of areas of failed asphalt pavement. These repairs
extend over 2.4-mile section of Aero-jet roadway which intersects Old
Ingraham Highway. A 1-mile stretch of an existing haul road located
between Aero-jet roadway and the C-111 berm will be removed/degraded to
natural ground. The approximate measure of 17,500 cubic yards of
material excavated will be hauled 10 miles to the existing Frog Pond
Disposal Area. The construction work in this contract will be performed
within Everglades National Park. The State of Florida has designated
this area an Outstanding Florida Water (OPW). Special environmental
considerations and construction permit conditions exist. Potential
bidders are STRONGLY encouraged to participate in the scheduled pre-bid
site inspection and to become familiar with all applicable
environmental laws and permit conditions prior to bid preparation.
Magnitude of construction is between $1,000,000 to $5,000,000. NOTE:
THIS IS AN AMENDMENT TO THE PRE-SOLICITATION NOTICE DATED 8/26/97.
Invitation DACW17-97-B-0025 will be issued on or about 27 July 98 and
opened on or about 27 Aug 98. Cost of Plans and Specifications is
$55.00. (This charge is not Refundable) Checks should be made payable
to FAO Jacksonville District, and sent to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers,
