20228 36 -- U V CURING SYSTEM SOL BEP-98-26(N) DUE 052898 POC Angela M.
Williams, Contract Specialist, 202-874-9177 This is Amendment 001 to
Request for Proposal (RFP) number BEP-98-26(N) submitted 05-21-98 as
CBD Submission No. 203135 for the acquisition of four (4) U V Curing
Systems with the option for two additional. The purpose of Amendment
001 is to answer questions submitted by prospective offerors, provide
clarification on information contained in the RFP, and incorporate by
reference FAR clause 52.219-14 as an addendum to FAR clause 52.212-5
"Contract Terms and Conditions Required to Implement Statutes or
Executive Orders-Commercial Items." Question 1. "What is the serial
number of the press?" The complete serial number cannot be released at
this time. However, the beginning three numbers of the serial number
are lower than 532 when the Heidelberg Model 102SP 6 color press was
changed. Question 2. "Is a shutter mechanism what is being referred to
in the RFP when mentioned "A mechanism shall be provided which
prevents overexposure of U.V. light onto the substrate?" The offeror
shall propose a method to prevent overexposure of U.V. light onto the
substrate. Question 3. The RFP states "U.V. varnish" on each
application. Is there U.V. ink and U.V. varnish?" Varnish will be used
on all six units. BEP also requires the capability to use ink on the
units. CHANGE TO RFP: The RFP states "Plastic substrate deformation
from curing is considered unacceptable." The BEP will produce currency
on the press. Significant distortion is unacceptable. This statement
will be rephrased as follows: Significant plastic substrate deformation
from curing is considered unacceptable. Questions concerning this
amendment should be directed to Angela M. Williams at (202) 874-9177.
