WEAR SOL DAAE30-98-R-0536 DUE 061298 POC Kathleen A. Sage, Purchasing
Agent, (973) 724-7674 WEB: US ARMY TACOM-ARDEC Procurement Network,
http://procnet.pica.army.mil/procacts.htm. E-MAIL: Kathleen A. Sage,
ksage@pica.army.mil. The U.S. Army, TACOM-ARDEC, intends to award a
firm fixed price purchase order, sole source, to Veritoy Technology,
Inc., 4845 Millersport Highway, P.O. Box 305, East Amherst, NY
14051-0305. The 155mm XM232 Modular Artillery Charge System (MACS)
design development requires access heating and gun wear
characteristics. Gun tubes at ARDEC are currently machined and fitted
with Veritoy's custom design thermal instrumentation to measure barrel
heat. The techniques to quantify heating and gun wear involve the use
of special diagnostic instrumentation such as thermocouples, intrusive
temperature sensors, and sensors which can determine gun wear with a
resolution of micro inches on the basis of a few (ten or less) gun
shots. This instrumentation can provide a basis for initial assessment
of heating and gun wear and screening of various approaches for
alleviating the problems. The contractor shall determine and install
the types of instrumentation to be used with a previously prepared 1400
cubic inch, 52 caliber, 155mm cannon tube, selected by ARDEC in which
to conduct heat and gun wear tests. The contractor shall perform heat
conduction analyses to characterize the gun barred temp distribution
and estimates of gun wear profile. (Reference Notes 22 and 26) (0147) Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0005 19980529\A-0005.SOL)
