Solicitation RFQ 230-0036-8, posted to the CBD on May 18, 1998, has been amended. Amendment 0001 is issued to the above combined synopsis/solicitation for wide flange steel I-beam trusses for warehouse addition at Federal Correctional Institution, Sheridan, Oregon. This amendment is issued in accordance with FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only amendment of the above solicitation, offers are being requested, and a written amendment will not be issued. This amendment is issued to furnish questions and answers concerning this synopsis/solicitation. QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS: Question No. 1: What is the imposed dead load on the steel beams from the steel Roof Panels, the 18ga Steel Decking, and the 3" Foil Cake Foam Insulation? Answer: Offerors to review drawings and provide engineered steel I-Beam trusses to meet all applicable Federal, Local and State codes and 1994 Uniform Building Codes, etc. Question No. 2: What are the live load, Ground Snow Load, Wind Speed, and Collateral Load requirements? Answer: See answer to Question No. 1. Question No. 3: Would design be done in accordance with the Uniform Building Code 1994 edition? Exposure B or C? Answer: See answer to Question No. 1. Exposure B is applicable. Question No. 4: Finish -- primed or galvanized? Answer: The finish is primed. Question No. 5: What is the size of the Steel I-beams? The A.I.S.C. Manual of Steel Construction lists three W18 sizes with 6" flanges: W18X35, W18X40 & W18X46. Answer: W18X35 is the section weight per foot. Question No. 6: What is the bolt pattern for anchor bolts? Answer: The bolt pattern for anchor bolts is 4" on center. Question No. 7: What is the size of the anchor bolts? Answer: The anchor bolts are 3/4" x 16 galvanized J-bolts. Question No. 8: Are shop drawings required for this project? engineering drawings? Answer: Shop drawings/engineering drawings are required. AMENDMENT ACKNOWLEDGMENT: Offers must acknowledge receipt of this amendment before the hour and date specified in the synopsis/solicitation. Failure of this acknowledgment to accompany the offer may result in rejection of your offer. If as a result of this amendment you desire to change an offer already submitted, such change may be made by letter.
