The Naval Research Laboratory intends to award on other than full and open competitive basis to Omicron for the purchase of a hemispherical analyzer with true double focusing 180 degree geometry and u-metal shielding. The high performance multi-element universal lens features variable magnification for selected area measurements, and permits both variable and wide angle acceptance characteristic with high transmission. These features make this analyzer ideally suited for AES, XPS, UPS, EELS, ISS and synchrotron applications. The mounting flange for the EA 125 is a NW 100 CE (6" OD). Flange-to-sample distance is 409mm (adaptable), working distance is 30mm. Appropriate u-metal shielding of the analysis chamber is required for ultimate performance. The analyzer is supplied with a single channeltron detector and a variable slit system. The appropriate apertures are selected by a rotary drive. Award will be made on the sole source basis to maintain compatibility with an existing Omicron UPS surface analysissystem. See Numbered Note(s): 22. (0147)
