The repair will include surrounding a portion of the existing breakwater structure with the subject sheetpile to rehabilitate that portion. The Astoria East Boat Basin (East Boat Basin) is near the eastern edge of the city of Astoria, Oregon in Clatsop County. Clatsop County is situated in the extreme northwest corner of the state. The Astroria East Boat Basin is located along the southern shore of the Columbia River between river mile 15 and 16. The East Boat Basin lies between 33rd and 39th streets in Astoria. The subject sheetpile required is for approximately 860 to 900 linear feet of wall, approximately 60 feet high. The steel sheetpile shall conform to the requirements of ASTM A690, grade 50, bare, or ASTM A572, grade 50, with one side coated with a corrosion resistant coating such as a coal tar epoxy. The physical properties for the sheetpiles shall be equal to that of a "PZ 40", with a minimum section modulus of 60.7 in3/ft. Approximately 340 linear feet of wall may have the physical properties requirements reduced to those of a "PZ 35", with a section modulus of 48.5 in3/ft, but this is to be determined at a later date. In addition, two "T"-sections, two 45-deg bent corner sections, and two 90-deg corner sections, all compatible with the PZ 40 and PZ 35 sections will be required.
