The Government intends to solicit and negotiate on a sole source basis with Alden Electronics, Westborough, MA to provide labor and material for International Flight Documentation Services for the National Weather Service, Eastern Region Headquarters, Bohemia, New York. Period of performance is June 18, 1998 through September 30, 1998 with options for two additional years. The Government is currently evaluating proposals for a national contract for the above services. This requirement is an interim contract until award can be made on the national contract. Authority: 41 USC 253(c)(1). Alden Electronics is the only known source capable of providing the required service. The proposed contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under authority of FAR 6.302. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received within five days after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Evidence must be provided of ability to provide the required services. Copies of the solicitation will only be provided in response to written or faxed requests received directly from the requestor.
