COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF JUNE 1,1998 PSA#2106CONDITION-BASED SYMPOSIUM, JUNE 30 -- JULY 1 1998 ASNE CONDITION-BASED
MAINTENANCE SYMPOSIUM AND EXHIBIT HALL 30 JUNE AND 1 JULY, 1998 The
Flagship Section of the American Society of Naval Engineers is proud to
invite you to attend the first ASNE sponsored symposium on
Condition-Based Maintenance. The symposium will provide a forum for a
broad spectrum of Commercial and Military representatives in the marine
and aviation communities to exchange new ideas and address existing
practices concerning the challenges and potential benefits of
condition-based maintenance. A broad range of issues from policy,
procedures, and technology will be covered. To ensure that a voice is
given to the concerns of the entire industry, we encourage attendance
from Owners, Operators, Maintainers, Construction and Repair
Facilities, Suppliers, Regulatory Authorities, Designers, Engineers,
and Insurers. Our theme for this symposium is "Celebrating Independence
from Inefficient Maintenance." This symposium, given its timely,
interesting theme, and its location and dates, has it all: an
opportunity to share your business with others, to learn, and to have
a good time. Planned events include a total of 27 technical paper
presentations over the two day period, as well as a panel discussion,
exhibit hall and raffle drawing. In addition, a golf tournament will be
held on 2 July to support the ASNE Scholarship Program. What exactly is
Condition-Based Maintenance? The objective of Condition-Based
Maintenance (CBM) is to reduce costs by doing appropriate maintenance
tasks only when there is objective evidence of the need for such
maintenance, while at the same time ensuring safety and equipment
reliability. In other words, doing the right maintenance and doing
maintenance right. Given the opposing constraints of the current
mandates to reduce costs, minimize manning, and operate fewer ships,
but with the continued absolute requirement for reliability, CBM is a
must for the future of both military and commercial equipment and
systems. POINTS OF CONTACT: Chairman-Ken Jacobs 703-602-0969 x600
