The Social Security Administration (SSA) is seeking the services of two persons who have knowledge of JAWS for Windows NT scripting and/or JAWS for Windows 95 scripting. JAWS is the speech output software, manufactured by Henter- Joyce, which SSA utilizes in computer workstation configurations for it 400 visually impaired employees who utilize speech output. The individuals would be expected to work a full-time 40 hour per week schedule (flex-time available), for a period of time that is expected to through September 30, 1998, but may extend for a period of one year. Individuals will work with SSA personnel SSA Headquarters in Baltimore, MD., and will be expected to perform the following tasks: 1) Develop JAWS scripts to provide an accessible interface with DOS, GUI and mainframe applications in an NT environment; giving full consideration to the information needs of visually impaired individuals; 2) Validate and test JAWS scripts; 3) Fully document the JAWS scripts developed for SSA; 4) Interact with the JAWS software developer and if necessary, take additional training from the JAWS software developer; 5) Serve as a resource person for developers of SSA applications, working towards the goal of developing applications which suit the general SSA population and still allow optimum use of JAWS; 6) Share knowledge and help SSA personnel develop scripting skills. Any responsible firm that feels it has the capability to provide the services, and who meets the requirements as stated herein may respond to this RFI. Respondents should provide details, clearly stating the ability to provide such services and submit technical literature substantiating your firm's capability to meet all of the aforementioned requirements.
