Hunt, via internet:khunt@usaid.gov, Tel:(202)712-1446, Fax: (202)216-3052 The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Bureau for Global Programs, Field Support and Research, Center for Population, Health and Nutrition (PHN Center) seeks an organization interested in assisting USAID and its development partners develop innovative/state-of-the-art behavior change tools and approaches. USAID anticipates the award of a five year $22,000,000 Behavior Change Innovation, State-of-the-Art Activity Cooperative Agreement(CHANGE)" to an U.S. NGO under its Child Health Results Package. The primary results for which the Recipient is responsible are innovative community, family, and individual behavior change tools and approaches, including institutional approaches, that contribute to improved maternal and child health and nutrition. Some key CHANGE results could be new or improved behavioral tools and approaches to produce measurable changes in child feeding practices or in care seeking for essential obstetric care. CHANGE will have three technical focus areas: 1) Improved Tools and Approaches for Behavior Change, communication and Social Marketing; 2) Improved Planning and Evaluation Tools; and 3) Comprehensive Behavior Change Packages. Approximately half of CHANGE activities will focus on Child Survival. The remaining half will be divided between Maternal Health and Nutrition. CHANGE will work with other partners to test, refine and evaluate new behavior changes approaches at the field level. This award will be based on a full and open competition. The Request for Applications (RFA), when issued, will provide the final information on the closing date. USAID intends to release the RFA on or about June 15, 1998 via the internet with complete and comprehensive program description, requirements for applicants and the evaluation criteria for this competitive process.
