Deaton, Supervisory Contract Specialist, (210) 536-5768 The Air Force intends to award a Firm Fixed Price Contract to The University of Arizona at Tucson for a determination of the long-term noise effects of military activities on the Sonoran pronghorn (Antilocapra americana sonoriensis) on the Barry M. Goldwater Range (BMGR). The study effects on pronghorn will include behavioral effects, reproductive effects, effects on fawn survival and other factors that may affect the population of pronghorn on the Range. Variability in population must be taken into account due to the harsh environmental conditions of the Sonoran Desert. The University of Arizona will determine whether noise from military activities on the BMGR visibly affects the behavior of Sonoran pronghorn. The University of Arizona will accomplish this by determining a normal or baseline activity budget for Sonoran pronghorn on the BMGR through field observations, and comparing that with their activity during noise events.
