648-7357 (CO) The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) conducts research in
the biological and earth sciences and disseminates information to a
wide variety of audiences including Congress; Federal, State and local
governments; the news media, industry, academia, and the general
public. The USGS presently has a requirement for multiple contracts to
furnish all labor, facilities, and materials required for the design
and production of various visual communication media in electronic or
print format including, but not limited to, publications, posters,
catalogs, leaflets, educational materials, point-of-purchase materials,
advertisements, public service announcements, promotional and direct
mail communication materials, signage, market research, multimedia,
World Wide Web documents, and audiovisual materials. Offerors shall be
required to demonstrate considerable experience and expertise in the
area of grid design and the ability to produce science and educational
materials in both print format and in electronic media (including the
World Wide Web and the production of interactive CD-ROM's). Offerors
must demonstrate advanced writing and editing skills based upon a high
level of knowledge of grammar and syntax. Offerors should also be
capable of providing examples of market research studies. Previous
experience with government or nonprofit organizations is highly
desirable. Due to the requirement for frequent contact between
government personnel and the contractor, and the need for rapid
response times, the contractor must be capable of meeting with
government personnel at the U.S. Geological Survey, Reston, Virginia,
within one business day as a response time. The government intends to
make multiple awards by means of indefinite-delivery
indefinite-quantity contracts consisting of one base year and three
option years. Performance shall begin on October 1, 1998. See Numbered
