This is a notice of intent to negotiate a contract with Encore Electronics, Saratoga Springs, NY, for which a solicitation will be issued to that company approximately 18 June 1998. This solicitation is for a strain gage signal conditioning and amplifier system which must interface to specific, customer-provided equipment. The system shall be a standard off-the-shelf product, which has been commercially available for two or more years. The system shall accommodate static, static, dynamic and full bridge configurations. It shall provide an AC and DC signal components with independent gain control, simultaneously. The system shall provide all excitation and calibration sources required for stand-alone operation. The rack input connector shall be a PT02A-14-18S capable of supporting six dynamic strain gages simultaneously (pin order is +signal, -signal, shield). The rack output monitor connector shall be a PT02A-14-18P capable of monitoring all conditioner/amplifiers within the rack simultaneously. The tape output connector shall be an insulated BNC connector per channel. The strain gage amplifier system consists of basic and option quantities as follows: Basic Quantities -- 228 each strain gage amplifier/conditioner modules, Encore Model 635-002 (delivery: 200 ea 1 Aug 98 and 28 ea 1 Oct 98); 24 each rack assemblies with integral calibrators, Encore Model 4007-135 (delivery: 1 Aug 98); 12 each rack assemblies, Encore Model 4007-137 (delivery: 8 ea 1 Aug 98 and 4 ea 1 Oct 98); and, 36 each power supplies to operate Encore Model 635 Amplifier, Encore Model 843, to fit Encore rack assemblies 4007-135 and 4007-137 (delivery: 32 ea 1 Aug 98 and 4 ea 1 Oct 98). Option Quantities all to be delivered on or before 2 Jan 99 include amplifier Model 635-002, 216 each; rack assembly Model 4007-135, 36 each; and, power supply Model 843, 36 each. Delivery shall be made to Arnold AFB TN in accordance with the above given delivery schedule. All interested sources may identify their interest, but must provide proof of capability to provide an acceptable product by submitting pricing data, an accurate description of the equipment offered which demonstrates that the equipment will meet the above listed criteria, and make and model numbers of the equipment. Firms responding should indicate whether they are a small or small disadvantaged business. Only responses containing the required data will be considered for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Responses must be received not later than 15 days after the date of publication of this announcement. (0153)
